What is Local Legends?
Local Legends is a two-person amateur match play tournament that runs all season in your region. Teams compete in head-to-head matches, climb a bracket, and the best teams in each region get to travel to Los Cabos, Mexico, for the finals. Even if you don't make it to Cabo, the matches, new courses, and camaraderie make it a season to remember.
Who can play?
Men 18 or older with an official golf handicap (minimum 6 rounds, max 18 for tournament scoring). You'll play in a bracket based on your home course and compete with teams within roughly 100 kms. Most matches will be played with teams closest to your home course.
How do I register?
Only the team captain needs to sign up. You can invite your partner automatically and add up to two reserve players. Registration opens each season. If you already have an account just sign up for this year's tournament.
How do matches work?
Matches are head-to-head and scheduled on your own timeline within 3-week windows. The home team picks the course, and all players cover their own green fees. Matches use a two-man net better ball format: each player plays their own ball, and your team's score is the lowest net score for the hole. Lose once? You move into the losers bracket for another chance. Lose again and you're out.
What happens after the regional matches?
The best teams from each region advance to the finals in Los Cabos. There, you'll play 3 rounds at top courses like Solmar Golf Links and Quivira Golf Club with an all-inclusive 5-night trip. There are daily prizes, swag, and a grand championship for the title of Local Legends Champions. Even if you don't make it to Cabo, the matches, new courses, and friendly competition make every round exciting.
Do I need a lot of experience to compete?
Not at all! The handicap system levels the playing field, so whether you're a weekend warrior or a club champion, everyone has a fair shot.
